Mother Nature's psychotic grudge against me has this year taken the form of The Winter That Would Not End. It's thought of ending, sure, and maybe it's sunny now, but don't think it's over. I expect any day now to wake up to yet another foot of snow, and the road to work slicker than bat snot.

Oh, she thinks she's clever, but I'm on to her!

I keep forgetting how much you can learn by shamelessly imitating artists who are better than you.

Also, this gives me a perfectly reasonable excuse to watch 101 Dalmatians over and over again.

So, I entered another contest on ConceptArt. This one was a bit different, however, in that I actually had a snowball's chance of doing well in it. So, I spent a couple weeks getting a pic together:

Pretty snazzy, huh? I'm really pleased with how it turned out. Problem is, I was struck down by Murphy at the last minute, and computer problems kept me from making the deadline by a few, scant, measly, stinking hours.

So, I'm less than pleased about that, particularly since there were some cool prizes to be had. However at least I got a kickass portfolio piece out of it, one that I may not have had the motivation to complete otherwise.

A couple of the other fellas here at the base approached me about doing character art for a game that they're thinking of doing. These are the two earliest pieces I finished, from a couple months ago. I really like the idea we have for the project, and even if it falls through, I'll still have the art.
